Schools
2CJ School District consists of three schools: Driftwood Elementary School located in Port Orford, Blanco School located in Langlois and Pacific High School located halfway between Port Orford and Langlois. Approximately five hundred students are enrolled in grades K-12.
Port of Port Orford
Boat hoists lift commercial fishing boats and pleasure craft into and out of the water for storage on the newly built dock at the Port of Port Orford.
Cape Blanco Airport
North of town is Cape Blanco Airport, built during World War II, it is operated by the State of Oregon.
Earth Quakes
The Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) lies off the coast. The last major event in the CSZ is estimated to have occurred 300 years ago. Average recurrence intervals for this zone are predicted at 450 years, plus or minus 150 years. In the event of an earthquake, move to high ground until told to return to lower lying area that are susceptible to tsunamis.
